Although the vast majority of people will opt for a regular car when looking for an everyday vehicle, there are some compelling reasons to consider investing in a minibus.
1. Great for large families
If you have a large family then a minibus can be a great choice of vehicle. With a minibus you rarely have to worry if there’s enough space for passengers. They’re also useful if your kids for things like taking your kids and their friends to parties, events etc.

Another very good reason to consider purchasing a minibus is that it will give you the option to work as a private hire taxi driver. Of course you will need to get a private hire licence first but owning your own minibus will make it easier for you to find work with private hire taxi firms, who are always looking for drivers who can take on work that requires a large vehicle, such as taking passengers to and from the airport.
3. Help out your community
When you own a minibus, you also have the option to help out your local community by offering your services to nursing homes, schools, sports clubs, charities etc.
4. Lots of choice
Another great thing about getting a minibus is that you have plenty of choice in the type of vehicle you want to get. If you want your minibus for mostly personal use then you might opt to get a smaller, 9 seater vehicle that’s big enough for family use. If you plan to use your minibus for work or for charitable purposes then you also have the option to get a larger vehicle with more seats.

The type of insurance policy you’ll need to get will depend on how you intend to use your minibus. For example if the minibus is purely for private use then you will need to get a pleasure use minibus insurance policy whereas if you plan to use your minibus to work as a taxi driver then you’ll need to get a private hire minibus taxi insurance policy.
If you use your minibus to serve the community then you’re also able to get a discounted type of policy known as charity minibus insurance. You simply need to provide the right documents to show that this is what your minibus is used for.
